19 November 1982 – Elton John – Manchester Apollo
This time I was a bit further back – maybe 20 rows or so from the stage, but I still managed a few decent snaps of Elton on his “Jump Up” tour.
After the build-up that was usual in those days, with a few false dawns, Elton eventually arrives on stage and sits on his stool in front of the piano.
Elton played 3 nights at the Apollo. The night I was there we had a special treat with Freddie Mercury coming on stage in one of Elton's red numbers for the third encore. He appeared only the one tile during the tour, and I cannot find any evidence of it happening on any other occasion. A brilliant end to an exceptional evening.
